  • I’m updating the midweek football tips sent out to members earlier on Saturday. For three reasons.

Firstly to bring you up to date with the 7 winning football tips from the weekend.

Secondly because I was stupid and overlooked some midweek league games to go along with the Champions League matches mentioned earlier.

Thirdly because of the Manchester United defeat at West Ham on Saturday. A result which might have repercussions.

The 1-1 draw between Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United on Friday night was the first winner of the weekend at odds of 5/2.

    On Saturday West . . .

  • It's Saturday and we've already enjoyed the first winning football tips of this very weekend.

The 1-1 draw between Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United on Friday night. The draw tipped up to members at odds of 5/2. Two spectacular goals. Did you see them? If not, check them out. The Owls goal in particular was something special.

Leeds United look a good side on and off the ball. I'm content with my pre-season bet on them to be promoted. So far, it's looking good.

Local derbies often end in draws, as do Champions . . .

So how long do you take to study form for a busy day of racing on Saturday? A question I have often been asked over the years.

Well it is 6.30pm my time now and I began my analysis, write up and racing tips for tomorrow at 8am. It's been a long haul.

It used to be even longer many years ago when I was crazy enough to study every single race meeting, including all weather dross at the likes of Wolverhampton. I used to get to bed at 3am in those days. I must have been crazy . . .

Why, asks VG Tips member Oscar, is the flat racing in September and October such a muddling collection of hard to forecast races?

Those who have followed me for years, or even decades, have seen me write about that subject in the past.

The fact is that, come this time of the year, far too many flat races are made up of horses that are tired. They've been racing hard and often since April or May and, to be frank, they are knackered and in need of a winter of rest.

Or we see late season maiden races in . . .

The end of the flat turf season creeps ever closer and, soon, my November mind will be turning to the new National Hunt season. Bring it on!

I have been critical of the last couple of flat seasons but I have enjoyed this past one. From a betting perspective and purely from watching a new batch of promising two year olds show what they are worth. We have seen some very good racing on the flat these past summer months and a number of those horses will be winning for members of VG Tips once again next season.

    We have . . .

  • As far back as I can remember, footballers have fallen out with their coaches and managers. It really is nothing new. Over the decades there have been some spectacular disputes, including punch ups, between players and their bosses. In days of old, they were covered up. A 'nothing to see here' approach was hard to contradict in the days before everyone was a photographer or cameraman and before footballers shared their daily existence on social media.

Clearly Paul Pogba has fallen foul of what a friend of mine who has worked at Chelsea for many years says is the biggest . . .
